Georges Rouault collection 1946-1972.

The collection includes correspondence received from Georges Rouault (and subsequently from Rouault's daughter, Isabelle) by Father Richard J. Douaire. The correspondence, conducted over a period of 26 years, suggests that Father Douaire developed an interest in the religious subjects and themes of Rouault's art, and contacted him after World War II with the intent of writing a book about Rouault's work.
